SÉVERINE SOLCOURT

— BIO
Passionate about painting, Séverine Solcourt studied applied arts in Paris before specialising in interior architecture. She then moved to Rome, joining the Academy of Fine Arts for a Masters in graphic design, and spent ten years across Italy weaving together drawing, set design and illustration.
Back in France, the memories of her childhood on Île de Ré drew her back to her first love: painting. She is best known for her vivid portraits of icons — Bowie, Gainsbourg, Hepburn, McQueen — where colour transcribes the energy of each subject. She listens to their music and watches their films while painting them, finishing each piece with a knife.
