What We Look For Before We Say Yes to an Artist
No formula — but a pattern. The work that survives a second look, a point of view, an international outlook. What LOTUS chooses, and what it doesn't.
We get asked often what it takes for an artist to show with LOTUS. The honest answer disappoints people looking for a formula: there isn't one. But there is a pattern in what we say yes to.
We look for work that survives being seen twice — pieces that reward a second look rather than exhausting their impact on the first. We look for artists who have a point of view about their own work, who can tell us why a piece exists, not just how it was made. And increasingly, we look for artists thinking internationally.
What we don't look for is trend-fit. The gallery isn't chasing what's moving on Instagram this season. We're building a roster meant to still make sense in ten years.
